The Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) Endorses Garamendi. Announcement on the heels of endorsements by key statewide and local law enforcement leaders.

Sealing his overwhelming support from California’s law enforcement community, Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi received the endorsement of The Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) in his race to be the next Lt. Governor. PORAC, which represents more than 57,000 police and sheriffs across California, cited his unmatched record of ensuring local authorities have the tools they need to protect our families and communities.

The announcement comes on the heels of endorsements by the State Coalition of Probation Organizations, California Professional Firefighters, and local law enforcement organizations, including the Los Angeles County Sheriffs and the Los Angeles Police Protective League. In addition, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and Sacramento County Sheriff Lou Blanasfor have endorsed Garamendi’s candidacy.
Commissioner Garamendi released the following statement in response:

“I proudly accept the support of the tens of thousands of police, sheriffs and other law enforcement officers across California. These men and women play a key role in protecting our families and our communities and have proved to be a powerful force in recent campaigns, including the 2005 Special Election.

“During my more than 30 years in public service, I have worked to ensure our first responders have the tools they need to protect us from crime in our neighborhoods, and the looming threats we hope to never face.

“As Lt. Governor I want to build on our existing systems to reduce crime and make certain our state is prepared to protect our loved ones in the face of unforeseen danger.”

“As Insurance Commissioner I have worked hard to protect California consumers, as your Lieutenant Governor I will continue to be your watchdog in Sacramento. I will turn that office into a forceful advocate for everyday Californians,” Garamendi said.

“I’ll put public safety first, fight for universal access to health care, better schools, and the protection of our precious environment – I will never shy away from taking on the special interests, in the best interest of hardworking Californians.”
