The State of Local Agency Negotiations

WHAT IS ON, OR JUST OVER, THE HORIZON

A look at the future from both a management and labor perspective

During this year’s event, you will hear from a panel of labor attorneys will talk of their experiences during the current bargaining climate and give their feelings about what the future will hold, both in the short and long term. In addition, another panel of management attorneys will also give their perceptions on the same topics. After, these sessions all of the attorneys, labor and management will sit together on the dais and answer questions from the audience. These two panels will be moderated by PORAC’s corporate counsel Robert Bonsall who served as moderator at last years Symposium.

There will be labor representatives from the following law firms.

Marsy’s Law

Todd Spitzer, former Chairman of the California State Assembly Select Committee on Prisons and Chairman of Proposition 9 ("Marsy's Law) in 2008, the amendment to the California Constitution adding enforceable victims' rights, will make a presentation on the status of victims' rights and how it impacts law enforcement in the courts.

  

Legislative Update

PORAC President Ron Cottingham will give his annual overview of last years legislative achievements and give a brief discussion of the current issues of 2011.
